Winner: Lotte Reed
Lotte has been a Citrus Heights resident for many years. She was nominated for the 2023 Citrus Heights Good Neighbor Award because of the countless hours she spends assisting some of Citrus Heights' most vulnerable population-children. Lotte, in her nineties, hand makes 100 small quilts annually to donate to the Citrus Heights Police Department. Our CHPD then use the quilts when a child is involved in an accident or other traumatic situation. Lotte's acts of neighboring serves 100 children and responding officers each year.
Top Nominee: Ruth Fox
Ruth is generous with her time and contributes to the success of many community events. She has served as a neighborhood president and helped get other areas active by sharing meetings, knowledge, and resources. Even when stepping back from chairing events, Ruth stepped up to support new REACH and Neighborhood board members. She helps ensure the success of both Area 6 and REACH. Ruth helps her neighborhood stay informed and connected while taking care of local schools, seniors, and neighborhood families. Ruth uses her church and community resources to meet the needs of residents. Through the years Ruth's acts of neighboring have served hundreds of Citrus Heights residents.
Top Nominee: Donna Stephens
Donna is lovingly called 'Grandma' by all the neighborhood children. Donna has earned this title because she always has fresh baked goodies to share with neighbors and speacial treats for the kids. Donna ensures her freezer is full of ice cream during the heat of summer so that the local kids can cool off. Donna takes time to visit with all who stop to chat and inevitably the chatter does not leave empty handed. Donna frequently provides buckets of sidewalk chalk and always sports the best decorated yard on the block. Donna truly cares about people and is regarded as one of the best neighbors ever. Donna's acts of neighboring improve quality of life for roughly 25 people year-round.
